04 Aug You Need A Coach
The Case For A Coach
A wise man or woman will listen to the wise to become wiser. As a leadership coach, I am often trying to help others understand why they need a coach.
This is my recent response
Here is why you need a coach. Discovering that one of the richest men in the world has a coach wasn’t shocking, you can see the methodical, clear and purposeful impact from the Gates. However, making the case that it doesn’t matter which vocation you might be in, everyone needs a coach in his TEDx talk, titled, “Teachers Need Feedback“, reiterated the power of feedback and why everyone needs a coach who will provide such.
Consider the obvious fact that in athletics, the most gifted athletes with untold talents and abilities need coaches then everyone needs a coach as well. Everyone needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a bridge player.”
If the best, most gifted athletes have coaches then it means that everyone ought to have a coach as well. And I mean everyone!
So this begs the question, why do you need a coach?
Here are a few whys –
- You need someone to tell you as it is.
- You need someone to help you as you are.
- You need someone to guide and challenge you to become the best you possible
- You need someone with an established system and process to get you to where you need to be
The true proof of any coaching and mentoring program or engagement is in the improvement evident in individuals. Some of these are equipped, empowered and challenged to become and maximize your potentials, pursue your goals and attain to levels never imagined.
These are examples of coaches you will need covering different core areas (spiritual, financial, leadership, career, business, entrepreneurship, strength/fitness, health) but it is your responsibility to seek them out.
If you don’t know how to, then ask.
