While this quote is accurate, this concept works when the onus for one’s personal development is to the individual who then works in conjunction with the leader. To expect someone else (focused on his or her own goals) to worry or be as passionate about your goals is ludicrous.
Listen, that ‘lazy’ idea that your personal development or growth is the responsibility of someone else is officially over. It is your responsibility to figure out your dream/goals and fight for it. It is your responsibility to embrace your vision and nurture it as you go through your life journey. It is your responsibility to find the right people that will expand, improve and enlarge that vision. Then, you evaluate your vision, goal, and objectives by asking questions and making time to reflect.
That is how you grow and develop.
