09 Jan Do Not Quit, Do It
There will be challenging events and tough circumstances in life, career, business and relationships that will test your conviction, expectations, and perspective but nevertheless, do not QUIT.
Quitting might be an appealing option but you must remember the anonymous quote below;
“If I quit now, I will be back to where I started, and when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.”
Some will even be presented with the opportunity to quit but those opportunities should be wisely declined. The story of Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip is a must read. I have highlighted the critical lessons (in BOLD) for your convenience. I’ll love to hear your thoughts and feedback as well. Read on!
“Sparky never had much going for him. He failed every subject in the 8th grade and several in high school.
ON FAILURE – Remember you fail at things but you are not a failure!
Sparky as a teenager never quite fit in anywhere, he was awkward both physically and socially. The most important thing in Sparky’s life was his drawing. He was proud of his artwork, even though no one else appreciated it.
ON CONFIDENCE: Confidence is an inside job!
People might doubt you, question or reject you but you must never reject or give up on yourself. Sparky submitted cartoons to the editors of his high school yearbook, but his work was rejected. He sent samples of his artwork to the Walt Disney Studios. Again, his work was rejected.
ON PERSEVERANCE: Continue even when it doesn’t make sense.
Do not give up on your dream or vision just because people do not see what you see. Sparky refused to quit! He continued to have confidence in his ability to create art. After being turned down by Walt Disney, he decided to write his own autobiography in cartoons. The character he created was Charlie Brown, who became famous worldwide. Sparky was Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip.
Can you imagine what a loss it would have been if Sparky had quit?
Now, can you imagine what a great loss to the world it will be if YOU quit?
You must resist the desire to quit and I hope you REFUSE TO QUIT regardless of the circumstances you are facing today because your best days are still ahead of you.
Be well!
